A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple steps to keep your Dressed by EG pieces soft, vibrant, and ready for every adventure.
Do: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Use a mild, color-safe detergent. Wash with similar colors to prevent color transfer.
Do: Tumble dry on low heat, or lay flat on a clean towel to air dry. Remove promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles.
Do: If needed, iron on low heat on the reverse side of the fabric. A quick steam also works well to release wrinkles without direct contact.
Do not use bleach, hot water, or high heat in the dryer. Do not wring or twist the fabric. These can damage the cotton blend and cause shrinking or fading.
Belt care: The woven belt on the Sage Belted Dress should be removed before washing. Hand wash the belt separately with cold water and mild soap, then lay flat to dry to keep its shape.
Do: Turn inside out before washing to protect the printed graphic and embroidered logo. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors.
Do: Tumble dry on low heat while still inside out. For best results, remove while slightly damp and lay flat to finish drying. This preserves the fleece texture.
Do: Always wash and dry inside out. Never iron directly over printed graphics or the embroidered EG logo. If ironing is needed, iron on the reverse side only.
Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or high heat. Bleach damages the tie-dye colors. Fabric softener breaks down the fleece over time. High heat causes shrinking and cracks in prints.
Tie-dye tip: The pastel colors on the Tie-Dye Crewneck are most vibrant when washed in cold water. Hot water and harsh detergents will cause the colors to fade faster. For the first wash, consider washing the crewneck alone or with a color catcher sheet.
Stains happen. Here is how to treat the most common ones without damaging your EG pieces. The golden rule: treat stains as quickly as possible, and always use cold water first.
Rinse immediately with cold water. Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain and gently rub. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then wash as normal on a cold gentle cycle.
Place the stained area face down on a paper towel. Dab rubbing alcohol on the back of the stain, letting it push through into the paper towel. Repeat until the stain lifts, then wash cold.
Apply white vinegar directly to the stain. Let it soak for 15 minutes, then gently scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse with cold water and wash as normal.
Scrape off any excess first. Soak the stained area in cold water for 10 minutes. Apply a small amount of laundry detergent, gently rub, and wash on a cold gentle cycle.
Important: Never use hot water on a fresh stain. Heat can set the stain permanently. Always start with cold water and treat gently. Avoid rubbing aggressively, as this can damage the fabric fibers.
Store properly. Fold knits like hoodies and crewnecks instead of hanging them. Hanging stretches the shoulders over time. Dresses can be hung on child-size hangers.
Wash less often. Unless visibly dirty or stained, clothes do not need to be washed after every single wear. Spot cleaning and airing out between wears extends the life of the fabric.
Skip fabric softener. It sounds counterintuitive, but fabric softener coats fibers and reduces absorbency and softness over time, especially on fleece and cotton blends.
Pass it on. When she outgrows her EG pieces, pass them to a younger sibling, friend, or donate them. Well-cared-for clothes deserve a second life with someone new.
